This work reports a bio-inspired synthesis of polydopamine (PDA) nanotubes and their application for sub-ppm level formaldehyde sensing. Thermodynamics study indicates that the PDA nanotubes are suitable for formaldehyde detection due to the moderate value of −Δ H °.
