Conflict of interest: none declared. We present an updated systematic review of therapies for inherited forms of epidermolysis bullosa (EB). A systematic review, with searches performed in April 2007,1 identified five randomized clinical trials (RCTs), but none of the studied medications showed a significant effect. The Cochrane group recommends updates after 2 years, thus we carried out a new search to find the latest papers. We used the same search strategy as in the original review, using the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, the Cochrane Library, EMBASE and MEDLINE, from 2007 to December 2011. We asked all contacts of trials registered at the US National Institutes of Health database (http://www.clinicaltrials.gov) or the World Health Organization International Clinical Trials Registry Platform about the results of their studies without date limits. No language restrictions were imposed. Two of the authors (IGD, PD) performed the initial screening reading of titles and abstracts, full‐text study selection, data extraction, and assessment for risk of bias according to the Cochrane guidelines. If differences arose, the third author was referred to for arbitration.
