Chapter 8 (Srivastava et al. ,, there is a 'graded care profile' that I struggled to understand.Other details in the book that I did not really appreciate were the Worksheets (Appendix 2, p. 310) which seemed to be out of context as more about doing 'direct work'.Perhaps some comments from service users may have helped, although I would acknowledge that may been problematic and raised all sorts of ethical dilemmas. These critical comments should not detract from the quality of this text. The book 'holds together' as a whole despite having 17 chapters that focus on a serious subject matter. The various contributors have presented their content in an accessible style. Each chapter contains strong messages and comments about the discourse in work with children who are neglected. The chapters have a contemporary 'feel' and are well structured with good references and research to support the content.
