A photometric procedure is described which allows the fast determination of the concentrations of sinapic acid esters and phytic acid in seeds of rape. The method is based on the yellow colour of the esters in alkaline media and the weakening of the intensity of the red coloured Fe‐sulfosalicylic acid complex in the presence of phytic acid. By means of biogenetic pathways locations of genetic blocks are discussed which can be expected or which are desired in breeding materials.
