Fergusonite and sarnarskite were found in the heavy cuncentrates of stream gravels at Canaan, on the Pikikiruna Range, north‐west Nelson. The physical properties of the minerals are briefly described, and X‐ray diffraction data and the results of spectrographic analyses are given.
