Nickel complexes of bidentate heterocyclic amines such as 2,2′-bipyridine and 1,10-phenanthroline have been found to be active catalysts for the epoxidation of olefins with hypochlorite as terminal oxidant. Nickel complex of 1-methylimidazole which is monodentate ligand also indicated epoxidation ability.
