Attention is called to some statistics derived from the Gamma Distribution of long-term rainfall series and their climatic significance discussed, together with their application to the study of drought situations. Charts of the geographical distribution of those parameters for the Mexican territory are included, and a diagram for the probability of obtaining stated amounts of rainfall during several periods is drawn, in terms of either the coefficient of variation or the shape parameter of the Gamma Distribution, both of these shown to be equivalent in measuring the rainfall variability.
