The investigation of the Shubnikov‐de Haas effect in tellurium under hydrostatic pressure up to 12 kbar revealed a significant distortion in the shape of the Fermi surface of the holes indicating a disappearance of a saddle point in the valence band energy spectrum. A simple linear model of the energy spectrum transformation is proposed which describes quantitatively the whole set of the experimental data.
