The purpose of this study was to assess the effects of adapted exercise devices on quality of life (QOL) and body satisfaction in individuals with spinal cord injury. Based on quantitative questionnaires, individuals experienced significant improvements in both QOL and body satisfaction after a 10-week exercise training program. Semi-structured interviews revealed that individuals found exercise to be a critical component to both their rehabilitation and their sense of themselves. The article concludes with the introduction of an adapted glove designed to improve ease of use and effectiveness of some exercise devices and to increase the sense of independence during exercise.
