A carbene transfer reaction between transition-metal complexes is reported. Carbene complexes of Pd(II), Pt(II), Rh(I), and Au(I) are formed via the reaction = W, Mo, Cr; R = Et, allyl) with (PhCN) 2 PdCl 2, (PhCN) 2 PtCl 2, [(CO) 2 RhCl] 2, and (Me 2 S)AuCl. The complexes prepared in high yields via a carbene transfer pathway. The X-ray structures ( 4 ) are reported.
