The R-matrix method is used to calculate rates for electron excitation between the ground state of Se XXV and the 26 levels (2p 5 ) 3s, 3p and 3d. Configuration interaction wavefunctions are used in the calculations. For certain transitions resonance effects increase the electron excitation rates significantly. The rate coefficients are compared with earlier distorted-wave results.
