Sweden suffered a heavy invasion of Colorado beetle in 1972, leading to the establishment of numerous infestation foci in the southern part of the country. The central campaign organized in the following years culminated in the eradication of the beetle by 1978. The beetle has the potential to survive and cause economic damage in Sweden.
