The seeds of Aframomum hanburyi have yielded a new cytotoxic acetylated dihydroflavonol,3-acetoxy-5,7-dihydroxy-4-methoxyflava-none (1) in addition to the known highly sweet 2R,3R-(+)-3-acetoxy-5,7,4′-trihydroxyflavanone (2). 4,7-Di-O-methylaromadendrin (3) was also present in substantial amounts.
