The equilibrium compositions and thermodynamic properties of SF 6 –Cu mixtures with copper proportions up to 50% are calculated as a function of temperature from 300 to 30 000 K and pressure from 0.01 to 1.0 MPa. The condensed phases and Debye–Hückel corrections are both taken into account. The influences of condensed phases, Debye–Hückel corrections, copper proportions and gas pressures on the composition and/or thermodynamic properties are discussed in detail under various conditions. Some results are tabulated for the modelling of SF 6 arc plasmas contaminated by Cu.
