The spatial distributions of agricultural production and land values discussed by Thiinen [5] and Dunn [41 identify equilibrium states of one kind of spatial system. In this paper it is shown, using examples of increasing complexity, that given mathematical formulations of these systems, conditions for the existence of a state of spatial equilibrium may be specified and from them spatial equilibrium distributions of agricultural production and land values may be easily extracted. Consider the class of ideal systems in which the spatial distribution of agricultural production is generated by the interaction of farmers and landowners.
