EUS-guided liver biopsy has moved to the fore, with this procedure becoming more widespread and, at many centers, replacing liver biopsy performed via transabdominal or transjugular routes. With the introduction of EUS-guided portal pressure measurement procedures (most of which include a liver biopsy as well), this trend is only likely to increase with time. EUS-guided liver biopsy is not as simple or as straightforward as it may seem at first glance, so it seems fitting to have Dr David Diehl provide his personal insights into this topic.
