A simple, rapid, and quantitative assay that facilitates the discovery and characterization of new RNA binders has been developed. The assembly consists of an ternary complex, in which a fluorescent Rev peptide (Rev is an essential HIV-1 regulatory protein) binds to its high affinity site on the RRE (Rev-response element), and this biotinylated RNA, in turn, is immobilized on a solid support through streptavidin.
