Experimental results of beam switching at a nonlinear interface suggest that saturation of the nonlinearity may be primarily responsible for the observed high quality of switching. If this can be definitely confirmed, it could have significant impact on the potential use of the interface in ultrafast applications, since most saturation effects are virtually instantaneous.
