Four methods of assessing maturity in cereals were compared to an objective control method. Each method produced similar, although not identical, assessments of the genotypes as the control method. Once-over sampling for moisture content when the earliest genotype reaches physiological maturity is a possible alternative to current methods of assessing maturity.
