Current‐photovoltage relationships are derived for illuminated Schottky barrier cells so as to include sources of carrier recombination explicitly and with a minimum of restrictive assumptions. The effects on cell performance of solid‐state parameters, including grain boundaries, and of charge transfer across the semiconductor interface are examined in detail.
