The authors study the bifurcation diagram for iterates of the non-analytic maps z to f c (z)=z 2 +c. The set which they call the Mandelbar set, displays many similarities to the Mandelbrot set. However, bifurcations in M BAR can take place across boundary arcs rather than through boundary points.
