SUMMARY In turkey poults and chicks fed 10% and 40% of corn heavily invaded by Penicillium sp., Fusarium roseum, or Fusarium oxysporum, the effects according to the fungus and the amount of fungus-invaded grain were: (1) normal body weight gain and normal feed efficiency, (2) reduced weight gain and reduced feed efficiency, (3) loss of weight, or (4) death. Rations containing 10, 20, and 40% of corn invaded by an isolate of F. roseum that causes an estrogenic response when consumed by some species of animals, caused swollen vents, prolapsed cloacae, and enlarged bursae of Fabricius in turkeys.
