A group of cationic surfactants of 2‐hydroxy‐3‐(2‐heptadecyl, pentadecyl or undecyl amido‐ethylamino) propane‐1‐triethyl ammonium hydro‐xides was prepared. These derivatives were purified and characterized by microanalysis, molecular weight determination, infrared, nuclear magnetic resonance, and mass spectra studies. Their surface and interfacial tensions were determined.
