The synthesis of single-crystalline zinc glutarate (sc-ZnGA) by the hydrothermal reactions of zinc perchlorate hexahydrate and glutaronitrile and determining of its structure are first reported. sc-ZnGA presents a three-dimensional network framework constituted by the alternate arrangement of 16- and 24-membered metallacycle channels, which consist of ZnO4 layers interleaved with bent and fully extended glutarate ligands, respectively.
