I write this letter in response to an article published in Volume 50 of Value in Health Regional Issues, written by Haixia Xie, Qi Zhang (shared first authorship) and their colleagues.1 The article is described as a psychometric validation of the EQ-5D-5L in the context of chronic spinal cord injury (SCI). My interest in this work stems from an understanding of the paucity of SCI-related research exploring the empirical validity of generic health outcomes suitable for the estimation of quality-adjusted life years.
