Schiff bases derived from aromatic aldehydes/ketones and S-benzyldithiocarbazate react with RuHC1 (CO)(PPh3)3 and RuH2(CO)(PPh3)3 to yield [RuX(CO)(PPh3)2(Schiff base] (X = H, C1). The new complexes have been characterised by IR, 1H NMR and UV spectroscopy. The triphenylphosphine ligands in these complexes have been observed to be trans to each other.
