Half‐sandwich organometal complexes of Ru II , Os II , Rh III and Ir III with β‐diketone‐like ligands have been extensively explored as potential prodrugs in anticancer therapy in recent years. Here a minireview of this class of compounds is provided. A discussion of the basic structural features of the metal complexes is given, together with their in vitro anticancer activity.
