Complexes of Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), and UO2(VI) with N‐(2‐pyrdylidene)benzothiazole‐2‐ylacetohydrazone have been prepared in ethanolic solution and characterized by physical and spectral methods. IR, electronic, TGA, and ESR spectra of the complexes, as well as IR, 1H NMR and mass spectra of the ligand have been obtained. IR spectra show the ligand coordinates as an anionic tridentate ligand via the azomethine nitrogen, pyridyl nitrogen and enolic oxygen. The stereochemistry is proposed for the complexes on the basis of spectral and magnetic studies. A tetrahedral structure is proposed for the Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes while an octahedral structure is suggested for the Fe(III) complex. All of the Cu(II) complexes have square‐planar geometry.
