The genus Talorchestia is redefined on the basis of new concepts advanced by Bousfield (1982). It comprises 4 Indo-Pacific species: Talorchestia gracilis, T. spinipalma, T. martensii, and a new species that is described from specimens from the Philippines and Queensland under the name of Talorchestia palawanensis, new species. This new amphipod is closely related to T. spinipalma, which is refigured.
