Key result
Cardiac diffusion-weighted MRI enables clear visualization and diagnosis of cardiac metastasis.
Why the study?
Evaluation of cardiac metastasis by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging remains a diagnostic challenge due to difficulty differentiating lesions from normal myocardial uptake.
Case Report (n=1)
No
Cardiac diffusion-weighted imaging may provide better detection and tissue characterization of cardiac metastasis compared to standard CMR sequences and PET/CT.

May aid cardiac metastasis detection on CMR in select cases; hypothesis-generating and should not yet change imaging practice.
Oda et al. (2018) conducted a case report in Cardiac metastasis of oesophageal cancer (n=1). Cardiac diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging vs. Standard CMR and PET/CT was evaluated on Detection and visualization of cardiac metastasis. Cardiac diffusion-weighted imaging clearly visualized focal abnormal signal intensity and restricted water diffusion in a 62-year-old man, enabling the diagnosis of cardiac metastasis.
