Silver sulfonates represent a class of compound with a strong structural analogy to the prolifically studied Zr phosphonates. Surprisingly, the chemistry of this family has remained essentially unexplored. This communication details the single crystal and bulk structural characterization of silver p-toluenesulfonate, its intercalation chemistry with a long chain amine, and the results of DSC/TGA analyses.
