A pulsed ultrasonic system is described which is capable of measuring phase boundary velocities of up to 4×10 4 cm s −1 at two positions on the boundary simultaneously. The system uses time-to-pulse-height conversion of the reflected signal return time. Examples are given of results obtained in use.
