The thermal degradation of some high molecular weight polyphosphazenes is reported. The investigation was carried out on a thermobalance in vacuum. The products of degradation were assessed. The molecular weight change of one of the polymers [(PhO)2P[dbnd]N] n, on being heated in vacuum, was followed by viscosity measurements and the results are discussed with reference to the existence of a possible chain-ring degradation equilibrium.
