An intense pulsed light-ion beam generator, “ETIGO”, has been developed at The Technological University of Nagaoka. The output parameter of this system has been designed to be Ei (energy) = 1.0 MeV, Z (impedance) = 5Ω, τp (pulse width) = 50 nsec. In a preliminary experiment done within 50 % of the full power, so far, we have observed Ei-700 keV, Id (diode current) -35 kA, Ii (ion current) -7 kA by use of a spherically shaped, magnetically insulated diode. Using geometrically focusing technique, we have obtained maximum current density Ji-3 kA/cm2 (at the focusing point), yielding focusing gain of-50. The focusing was observed to be less than 10 mm in diameter.
