Properties changes of bitumen remain a serious problem during the whole ageing process and occur throughout its service life. The objective of this study was to predict the properties changes of bitumen and the effect of layered double hydroxides additives during the ageing process using molecular simulations. Molecular dynamic simulations were used to simulate the changes of physical properties before and after ageing. Ultraviolet ageing of components of bitumen was studied by spectroscopy technology. The results showed that the diffusion of asphaltene is not very sensitive to temperature and the relaxation of asphaltene is a slow process. Layered double hydroxides-modified bitumen has a high-temperature stability and great heat capacity transfer ability. The interaction of ultraviolet radiations and asphaltene is very strong, but saturate is not susceptible to ultraviolet radiations because it cannot absorb the ultraviolet wavenumber between 280 and 400 nm.
