A group of 12 patients has been derived from a series of 156 cases of the nephrotic syndrome seen at Mulago Hospital. The group shared certain features which are not typical of the nephrotic syndrome associated with quartan malaria. In each of the 12 cases there was a strong probability based on clinical and histological criteria that the aetiology of glomerulonephritis was post-streptococcal. The main features of this group are described and the difficulty of making the differentiation in the individual case is discussed.
