The energy and angular distribution of projectile electrons emitted in asymmetric collisions is calculated within the quantum mechanical electron impact approximation. The rise of the differential cross section in the backward direction is shown to follow closely the behaviour of electrons elastically scattered from the target. As an example, (H,Ne) and (H,Ar) collisions are studied and the results are compared with experiment.
