The first observation of optical Stark splitting of a molecular Raman transition is reported. The splitting is observed in inverse Raman rotational spectra of diatomic nitrogen, measured in the presence of a pulsed 1.06-{μ}m laser field. The line positions and intensities of the Stark-split multiplets are in good agreement with calculations of the quadratic Stark effect associated with the optical polarizability anisotropy.
