Amicrocomputer-controlled system for automatic measurement of dielectric properties of materials at frequencies from 100 kHz to 1 GHz was developed. Dielectric properties were determined by the invariance-of-the-cross-ratio technique with a shielded open-circuit sample holder and three calibration standards. The reliability of the system was verified with n-propanol, n-heptanol, and n-hexanol at 25C. Measurements on soft red winter wheat compared well with data obtained with other measurement systems.
