The rare earth niobate‐calcium molybdate systems are one class of a number of pseudobinary systems which can be described by the general formula , where , Sc +3 and Y +3 , , Ta +5 , and , W +6 . Calcium, furthermore, may be replaced by Sr +2 and Ba +2 . For some of these compositions, lattice parameters and intensity of fluorescent emission have been determined as a function of x . Single crystals were grown by the Czochralski technique, and the distribution coefficients were determined for a number of niobates in calcium molybdate. Stimulated emission was obtained from a 3 in. long doped crystal.
