All articles of this category The title compounds, 2-aryl-3-iodo-4 H -1-benzopyrans and 2-alkyl-or 2-aryl-3-iodo-4 H -1-benzothiopyrans, were prepared by reaction of the corresponding heterocyclic derivatives with the iodine-cerium(IV) ammonium nitrate system under mild conditions. The scope and proposed mechanism of the reaction were also demonstrated.
