The purpose of this paper is to establish the economic determinants of West Germany's demand for international tourism in six northern Mediterranean nations. The methodology makes use of the translog utility function. Homotheticity and additivity restrictions of the utility theory are tested as hypotheses. Expenditure (income), own and cross-price elasticities are claculated for each of the twenty years from 1966 to 1985.
