A pH‐scale has been defined for absolute methanol as solvent and the ionic product of methanol was evaluated (20°, μ = 1.0, N(CH3)4Cl or LiC1). The formation of methoxide complexes has been studied by titration of methanolic solutions of BCl3, AlCl3, GaCl3, InCl3, PCl3, TiCl4, ZrCl4, ThCl4, GeCl4, ZnCl2, TaCl5, NbCl5, NbOCl3, WOCl4 with lithiummethylate.
