The classification and relationships of the members of the genus Gazella occurring in the Arabian peninsula are discussed. Three species are considered to exist in the region and G. marica Thomas, 1897, is here considered to be a desert race of the Goitred gazelle, G. subgutturosa Guldenstaedt, 1870; the other species recognized are G. gazella, with three, possibly four valid local races, and G. dorcas saudiya.
