The karst topography of North East Middle Atlas shows highly diversified forms : the plateaux of Ahermoumou, where it takes on superficial forms, and activity is reduced ; the rocky cones, giant sink-holes and snow wells of Jebel Bou Iblane ; the regions of Chara and Ademame, riddled with sink-holes and full of underground rivers. It is difficult to determine the respective roles of ancient climates, stratigraphy and tectonics. When the evolution of the North East Middle Atlas is considered as a whole, with the superimposition of rivers, the fluctuation of the watershed between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, and the minor tectonic ad/ustements which guided karstification, the forms are closely linked.
