To quantify the morphometric characteristics of the pedicles of the lumbar spine in Mexican population. There are not reports about the morphometry of lumbar pedicle in a Mexican population exist. 60 cadavers were evaluated by fluoroscopy and CT from L1 to L5. Each vertebral pedicle was measured in the axial, sagittal and coronal planes. Wide variation in pedicle morphology between specimens at each vertebral level was found in the population. Pedicles from the lumbar vertebrae attained dimensions acceptable for 5.5 ‐ 6.5 mm screw diameters. The data in this study indicates that pedicle screws may be used in the lumbar region.
