The study of the shapes (sphericity) of sedimentary particles has been handicapped by the confusion from the great number of shape measures, and the time-consuming methods. The present paper attempts to show the relation between the various two dimensional shape measures, and introduces a rapid method especially adaptable to particles of the sand-size.
