A new species of benthic chaetognath, Spadella lainezi n. sp., is described from 42 specimens collected in a cave of the coast SE of Tenerife (Canary Islands, Eastern Atlantic). The species is the first chaetognath recorded for caves on the Eastern coast of the Atlantic Ocean.
