Since the Hamas’ October 2023 attack, the Jewish community in the U.S. faces an unprecedented threat landscape. Whereas the primary threats to Jews previously stemmed from far-right extremism, recent attacks and plots reflect a shift. Individuals inspired by IS and Iran and its proxies, as well as lone actors motivated by Middle East geopolitics, mirror the threat vectors historically facing Jews in Europe. While the white supremacist threat remains, the recent exposure of Ashab Al-Yamin and Hamas networks in Europe, as well as thwarted IS plots and attacks in multiple states indicate how this multi-faceted threat is manifesting.
