Containers and microservices make it easier to move applications to the cloud. The application developer charged with refactoring the application must think about how to best redesign the applications to become containerized and service oriented. In essence, you're turning a monolithic application into something that's more complex and distributed. However, the real objective is for it to become more productive, agile, and cost effective.
